US Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations to visit Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia
03 March 2023
Louis L. Bono, the new US Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations, will make his first visit to the region next week, including Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia, according to Ned Price, spokesman for the United States Department of State.
During his visit, Bono plans to meet with senior leaders to support the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process and reiterate the US's commitment to Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. This trip marks the first of what the US expects to be regular travel to all three countries of the South Caucasus.
Bono is scheduled to visit Baku, Yerevan, and Tbilisi in that order, and his visit comes at a critical time for the region as tensions continue between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the Nagorno-Karabakh region and as Georgia faces ongoing political challenges.
