US continues to engage bilaterally to facilitate direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia - State Department

Despite the end of the term of office of Philip Reeker, Senior Adviser on Negotiations in the Caucasus, the United States will continue to promote security and peace in the South Caucasus, State Department spokesperson told Report.

“Since the beginning of Ambassador Philip Reeker’s appointment as a Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations in August last year, it was always understood and expected that he would serve in this position on a short-term basis until the end of 2022,” State Department said, adding that “Ambassador Reeker’s pre-planned departure in no way undermines the United States’ commitment to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region.”

As noted, US continues to engage bilaterally, with likeminded partners like the European Union, and through international organizations like the OSCE to facilitate direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia and find solutions to all remaining issues.
