01 March 2023
The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has informed the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, that he will not be able to attend the Summit-Level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Contact Group in Baku. The reason cited was a dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo, which is being organized in Brussels. Instead, the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs will represent Serbia at the Baku event.
During their phone conversation on March 1, President Vučić briefed President Aliyev on the progress of the dialogue with Kosovo. He emphasized his commitment to the comprehensive development of Serbia-Azerbaijan relations, based on mutual respect, understanding, and support.
President Aliyev praised the dynamic development of the Azerbaijan-Serbia strategic partnership, which he attributed to the personal relations of the two nations' heads of state. He expressed hope for continued success in bilateral relations in the coming year.
The two leaders also exchanged views on energy issues and other topics of mutual interest during their conversation.
