Trump called on his supporters to protest, alleging "illegal leaks" from the "corrupt" Manhattan district attorney's office. However, a spokesman for Trump said that the former president had not been informed of any arrest. Despite providing no evidence, Trump claimed that he was the "far & away leading Republican candidate" for the 2024 presidential race. If Trump is charged, he would be the first US president to face criminal charges while out of office.
