Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan comments on Russia's withdrawal from "grain deal"

The Embassy of Ukraine in Azerbaijan has commented on the withdrawal of the Russian Federation from the "grain deal".

The embassy told Report that from September to the present time, 176 ships have accumulated, which were supposed to follow the "grain corridor", but they cannot continue their route. The embassy noted that back in September, the Kremlin decided to block the export of food from Ukrainian ports, which is why such a queue arose.

“The explosions in Crimea on October 29 are another justification for the Kremlin’s traditional policy of not fulfilling its commitments. The worst consequences of such deliberate actions by Russia will be for the countries of Africa and Asia, in particular Turkiye, Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Yemen and others," the statement said.

Ukraine sent 200,000 tons of food to the poorest countries as part of the UN Food Program. In addition, Ukraine allocated tens of thousands of tons of grain as humanitarian aid to Ethiopia and Somalia.

The embassy added that Ukraine has always been and is ready to be the guarantor of food security in the future.

It is emphasized that now it is extremely important that the UN and Turkiye, as guarantors of the "grain deal", as well as countries dependent on the export of Ukrainian grain, send a clear signal to Russia about the inadmissibility of these actions.
