WHO Director-General Calls for Achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), emphasized the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations in a video address at the 10th Global Baku Forum. The forum, organized by the Baku Nizami Ganjavi International Center, focused on "The World of Today: Challenges and Hopes" with a panel titled "New global health building structure: Health promotion, provision, protection, strengthening, and actions in this direction".

During his address, the director-general outlined the WHO's five priorities related to health promotion, provision, protection, empowerment, and implementation. He stressed the need for countries to define priorities in these areas, noting that diseases often begin outside hospitals, in homes and on streets. He also highlighted the importance of primary care, digital technology, and partnerships in achieving these priorities.

"Protection is also important. The fourth factor, digital technology, brings out the importance of partnership. The implementation of measures in the field of health should be specially mentioned in this aspect," said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The WHO director-general's call to achieve the SDGs of the UN reflects the organization's commitment to promoting health and well-being for all. With his message, he hopes to inspire leaders and policymakers to prioritize health initiatives that are aligned with the SDGs.
