US Secretary of State Blinken hails "significant progress" in peace negotiations between Azerbaijan and Armenia

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has praised the progress made towards a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to the State Department. Speaking after a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Munich, Blinken noted the historic opportunity for the two countries to secure lasting peace after more than 30 years of conflict. The US is committed to supporting these efforts, Blinken said, whether directly, in a trilateral format, or through other international partners. The Secretary also highlighted the need for free and open transit through the Lachin corridor and called on the parties to open other transportation routes.
