US Department of State Advisor Affirms Support for Long-Term Peace Between Armenia and Azerbaijan

Louis Bono, the US Department of State's Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations, has expressed the United States' support for the establishment of long-term peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He emphasized that the US plays a crucial role in supporting the peace process but does not seek to impose a peace treaty on the parties.

Bono stated that any peace agreement must be sustainable and come from the parties involved in the conflict. The US aims to encourage dialogue between the two nations and facilitate peaceful negotiations between them.

While acknowledging Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's position on the OSCE Minsk Group, Bono stressed that it is essential for Azerbaijan and Armenia to communicate, regardless of the mediation format. He noted that he will visit Yerevan after his meetings in Baku.

The senior advisor's comments reflect the United States' commitment to promoting peace and stability in the Caucasus region. As tensions continue to simmer between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the US's role in facilitating dialogue between the two nations will be critical in achieving lasting peace.
