UN General Assembly President Csaba Kőrösi Commends Azerbaijan's Smart Energy Transition

The President of the UN General Assembly, Csaba Kőrösi, has arrived in Azerbaijan, as announced in a tweet by Kőrösi himself. Upon his arrival, Kőrösi was warmly welcomed by Parviz Shahbazov, the Minister of Energy, and Yashar Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Permanent Representative to the UN.

In his tweet, Kőrösi expressed his admiration for Azerbaijan's smart energy transition, which he noted was based on evidence, data, and science. He further stated that he was glad to visit a country that is leading the way in green energy transformation.

Azerbaijan has been making significant strides in transitioning towards renewable energy sources, with a focus on solar and wind power. The country aims to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix to 30% by 2030.

Kőrösi's visit to Azerbaijan is part of his tour of the South Caucasus region, where he is meeting with government officials and representatives to discuss issues related to regional security, human rights, and sustainable development.

The UN General Assembly President's commendation of Azerbaijan's smart energy transition serves as recognition of the country's efforts towards achieving a more sustainable future.
