Türkiye's February Earthquakes Cause Over $105 Billion in Damage

Türkiye's government has stated that the damage from the two earthquakes that struck 11 provinces on February 6 has exceeded 2 trillion lira, equivalent to over $105 billion. The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 quakes impacted southern Türkiye, specifically the provinces of Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaras, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa, and resulted in the loss of nearly 50,000 lives.

Over 13.5 million people in Türkiye have been affected by the devastating earthquakes, with many others in northern Syria also affected. The government is now focusing on rebuilding and supporting those who have been impacted by the disaster.
