Turkish President Erdogan Closes Doors to US Ambassador Following Meeting with Opposition Presidential Candidate

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that he will no longer meet with US Ambassador to Ankara Jeff Flake, after the diplomat held talks with Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the presidential candidate from the main opposition Republican People's Party. Erdogan criticized the meeting, saying that the ambassador's interlocutor should have been the president, not an opposition candidate. He also stated that the ambassador had overstepped his limits and that his "doors are closed" as a result. The comments were reported by the Star newspaper on Sunday.
