Israel Strikes Syrian Military Targets in Response to Rocket Attack

Israeli jets launched an attack on Syrian military targets on Sunday, following overnight rocket attacks towards Israeli-controlled territory. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed responsibility for the attack, which included artillery and drone strikes against the rocket launchers and subsequent airstrikes against a Syrian army compound, military radar systems, and artillery posts.

State media in Syria reported explosions in the vicinity of the capital Damascus, and the Syrian defense ministry said its air defenses responded to the Israeli attacks and intercepted some Israeli missiles. However, no casualties were reported, and only material damage was caused by the strikes.

Tensions between Israel and Syria have escalated in recent weeks, with cross-border exchanges of fire. The IDF stated that it holds Syria responsible for any activities that occur within its territory and will not allow any attempts to violate Israeli sovereignty.

The Israeli military did not provide any information regarding the number of casualties or damage caused by the attack. Syria has not yet commented on the incident.
