German Ambassador to Azerbaijan suggests Elysée Treaty as model for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia

The Elysée Treaty, which was signed between Germany and France in 1963, could serve as a model for peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, according to German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ralf Horlemann. In a tweet on Wednesday, he revealed that he and French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Bouillon visited the French high school in Baku and met with students.

The Élysée Treaty was a historic treaty of friendship between France and West Germany, signed by President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer on January 22, 1963, at the Élysée Palace in Paris. It was a turning point in the relationship between Germany and France, which had been marked by centuries of rivalry and wars. The treaty laid the foundation for a new era of cooperation and peaceful relations between the two countries.
