Former Croatian President advocates for Balkan accession to EU at Baku Forum

Former President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, has emphasized the importance of Balkan countries joining the EU, stating that it will create a common platform for all countries in the region to discuss issues. Speaking at a panel session during the 10th Global Baku Forum, Grabar-Kitarovic highlighted that many countries in the region view their future as part of the EU and that the entire region has immense potential.

She further added that she always supported the entry of neighboring countries into the EU and NATO, noting that if the EU wants to become a global player, it must include the Western Balkans. According to Grabar-Kitarovic, the war in Ukraine has had a significant impact on EU security and that including the Western Balkans is essential for the EU to become a global element.

The accession of Balkan countries to the EU has been a topic of discussion for a while now, and Grabar-Kitarovic's remarks reiterate the significance of this move for the region's future.
