Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin Presents Resignation of Government to President Sauli Niinisto

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin has presented the resignation of her government to the President of Finland, Sauli Niinisto. The Cabinet of Ministers will continue to perform its duties until a new government is formed.

The decision comes after the Social Democratic Party, led by Marin, lost the parliamentary elections on April 2. Following the defeat, the Prime Minister announced her intention to step down.

President Niinisto will now begin the process of selecting a new Prime Minister and government, which will be tasked with leading Finland through a period of political transition. The Finnish Constitution allows for the President to appoint a new Prime Minister who must be approved by Parliament.

In the meantime, the current Cabinet of Ministers will remain in place and continue to govern the country. The resignation of the government marks the beginning of a new chapter in Finnish politics, as the country prepares for the formation of a new government.
