EU and Azerbaijan Strengthen Partnership through AZTAF Program, says EU Ambassador

The European Union (EU) and Azerbaijan have forged a strong partnership, as evidenced by the successful implementation of the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF) program, according to Ambassador Peter Michalko, Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan. Speaking at the annual review meeting of the program, Ambassador Michalko emphasized that AZTAF is a tool for collaboration between the EU and the Azerbaijani government in accordance with high international standards.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU and Azerbaijan have identified several strategic areas of cooperation and long-term goals to enhance economic relations, Michalko noted. He added that the AZTAF program is designed to support economic development, energy efficiency, mobility, and other key areas.

Michalko further highlighted that the program is beneficial to various ministries and agencies, as well as the citizens of Azerbaijan. "Let's continue our joint work for the sake of Azerbaijan's sustainable future," he concluded.

The AZTAF program was established in 2019 to provide technical assistance to support Azerbaijan's economic development, promote good governance, and enhance its ability to respond to emerging challenges. The program is jointly funded by the EU and the Azerbaijani government, with a total budget of €8 million.
