Coronal Mass Ejection Triggers Geomagnetic Storm Expected to Impact Earth Until March 1
27 February 2023
A coronal mass ejection (CME) triggered by flares on the surface of the Sun on February 24-25 is set to reach Earth on February 27, with its effects expected to last until February 28. The intensity of the resulting geomagnetic storm is expected to reach the level of G2 (medium magnetic storm) on February 27, and may rise to the level of G3 (strong) at certain times until March 1.
The storm's effects could cause discomfort for at-risk chronic patients, the elderly, and children, and weather-sensitive individuals are advised to take preventive measures on the recommendation of doctors.
