China and Azerbaijan enjoy "long-term, historical relations" from a strategic standpoint, according to Wu Hongbo, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs. Speaking at the 10th Global Baku Forum, Hongbo praised Azerbaijan's hospitality, culture, and history, while also highlighting the importance of Azerbaijan's location for cooperation in infrastructure, transportation, and other areas. China's One Belt, One Road project, which connects over 100 countries, has helped strengthen the bilateral relations between the two nations, with President Ilham Aliyev's visit to China and the consensus reached at the Shanghai conference last year being notable highlights. This year marks the 31st anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
