Azerbaijani MP accuses Russia and Armenia of preparing for war over illegal transport of weapons in Karabakh

A member of the Milli Majlis, Jeyhun Mammadov, has accused Russia and Armenia of preparing for war by allowing illegal transportation of weapons by Armenians in Karabakh, on a statement he gave to Report. Mammadov stated that peacekeepers should ensure stability in the region and that the transport of weapons shows an attempt to increase tension and interfere with the peace process. He added that such actions by the Russian military contradict the tripartite statement signed by Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia in 2020.

Mammadov also accused the peacekeepers of becoming accomplices of terrorists and playing a role in the provocations of separatists against Azerbaijan. He suggested that cooperation has been established between the peacekeepers and the separatists.

On March 24, Azerbaijani Army's technical surveillance means recorded the movement of a convoy carrying out illegal military transportation along the Khankandi-Khalfali-Turshsu route. The convoy included 1 BTR-82A combat vehicle belonging to the Russian peacekeeping contingent, 3 Armenian KamAZ awnings, and a KamAZ vehicle with a fuel tank. Mammadov stated that such activities carried out by the Russian peacekeeping contingent are a failure to fulfill their duties related to the implementation of the provisions of the Trilateral Statement.
