Azerbaijani Defense Minister meets with Chief of Georgian Defense Forces

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, welcomed a delegation led by the Chief of Georgian Defense Forces, Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, and emphasized the traditional friendship and mutual trust between the two nations.

The Minister highlighted the high level of bilateral and trilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia, which he stressed as crucial to ensuring regional security. He also noted the professionalism demonstrated by military personnel during the "Winter Exercises - 2023" in Kars and the importance of joint exercises for exchanging experience and improving combat capability.

During the meeting, which took place within the framework of the Munich Security Conference, the Minister emphasized the importance of the plenary session involving leaders from the countries of the South Caucasus. He recalled the words of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, about the desire for peace to be established in Eurasia and spoke about the work done to ensure peace in the region.

Major General Matiashvili expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized the high level of military relations between the two countries. The meeting also involved exchanging views on issues of mutual interest, prospects for the development of cooperation between the countries in the military, military-technical, military-educational, and other spheres.
