Azerbaijan Marks 31st Anniversary of Khojaly Genocide

Azerbaijan is remembering the victims of the Khojaly genocide, which occurred 31 years ago today. On February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces, with the assistance of the Russian army, occupied the town of Khojaly in Nagorno-Karabakh and massacred hundreds of civilians, including women and children. The death toll was 613, with many more disabled and taken hostage. Despite evidence of the atrocities, the perpetrators have not been brought to justice. The Azerbaijani parliament has called on the international community to recognize and condemn the genocide. Several state legislatures, including those of the United States, Mexico, and Pakistan, have already done so.
