Azerbaijan has allocated humanitarian aid to Ukraine

Azerbaijan has provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine, consisting of transformers and generators to restore power supply to the territories affected by military operations.

The first part of this humanitarian aid was sent on December 10. A second caravan will leave for Ukraine in the coming days for the full delivery of electrical equipment, with a total cost of about 850 thousand dollars, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

“Since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Azerbaijan has sent Ukraine 1.5 thousand tons of humanitarian supplies worth 20 million US dollars,” said Vladislav Kanevsky, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan.

As the Report agency reports, he noted that “Azerbaijan is sending critical assistance to the civilians of Ukraine who have become the aggressor's target. This includes various medications, medical equipment. It is gratifying that the delivery of humanitarian aid to Ukraine has reached a new level.”

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the executive authorities of Sumgayit for providing assistance to the twin city of Cherkasy: “This initiative served as an example for other cities and regions of Azerbaijan, which began to actively send assistance to Ukraine. This is a real gesture of friendship between the peoples of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.

The total cost of Azerbaijan's humanitarian aid in connection with the war in Ukraine reaches 30 million manats (about $18 million). In addition, various Azerbaijani structures provided other humanitarian services to the residents of Ukraine. For example, 90 Ukrainian children who lost their family members as a result of military operations were brought to Azerbaijan for medical and socio-psychological rehabilitation. A destroyed school has been restored in Irpen, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry notes.
