Azerbaijan Gas Hub Project to Continue Despite Earthquakes in Turkey, Says Government
13 March 2023
The recent earthquakes in Turkey will not cause the postponement of the Azerbaijan gas hub project, according to the Turkish government, as reported by Russian press. The gas hub project involves the creation of a trading platform and development of gas infrastructure in the southern pipeline, with Algeria, Qatar, and Azerbaijan expected to sell gas to the EU through this center. The Ministry of Energy of Turkey confirmed that the earthquakes in the southeast of the country will not impede the construction project. Despite concerns raised by the earthquakes, Moscow and Ankara have stated that the project will continue as planned.
