11 March 2023
According to Armenian newspaper "Hraparak", Nikol Pashinyan, the Armenian Prime Minister, and Karabakh separatist leader Araik Harutyunyan met on March 10. Harutyunyan reportedly returned to Artsakh with a heavy mood and impressions, telling his entourage that "the meeting with Pashinyan was difficult".
During the meeting, Pashinyan repeated Baku's view that Karabakh must integrate into Azerbaijan and that Karabakh people must find a common language with Azerbaijanis. Pashinyan reassured Harutyunyan that the international community has promised a certain status within Azerbaijan, ensuring independence.
The newspaper also notes that Harutyunyan had earlier initiated an amendment to the "Karabakh legislation" that would allow him to pass the power to another person before the end of his presidential term.
It remains unclear how Harutyunyan left Karabakh and returned, with reports suggesting he may have used a Red Cross vehicle or the back of a peacekeeping truck.
