The ANAMA official also stated that 68,300 hectares of land have been cleared of mines since November 10, 2020, with 82,522 mines detected and neutralized during the process.
Bashir Hajiyev, the Deputy Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories of the Karabakh Economic Region (except Shusha), said that substantial progress has been made in clearing the liberated territories of mines. As per Hajiyev, 26.2% of Aghdam district, 22.7% of Fuzuli, 3.5% of Khojavand, 15.2% of Khojaly, and 15.1% of Tartar have already been cleared of mines.
Hajiyev also highlighted the ongoing reconstruction and development projects in the region, including the construction of 11 new facilities in Aghdam. He stated that the priority areas for demining in Aghdam are Kangarli, Saricali, and Khidirli villages (together with buffer zones), the Hindarkh-Aghdam highway, the canal from Khachinchay reservoir, and other inner-city projects.
Sultan Hajiyev, the Deputy Head of the Interagency Center for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation of Liberated Areas at the Office of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, expressed gratitude to countries such as Great Britain, the United States, and Hungary for their support in demining work. However, he added that despite this support, more assistance is needed to speed up the process of clearing the liberated territories of mines.
