Turkish Earthquake Death Toll Reaches 50,783, Interior Minister Says

The death toll from the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck southeastern Türkiye on February 6, 2023, has risen to 50,783, according to Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. This represents an increase from the previous figure of 50,500 reported on April 14.

The earthquake, which occurred at a depth of seven kilometers in the Pazarcik region of Kahramanmaras Province, caused severe destruction in multiple provinces, including Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Osmaniye, Malatya, Adiyaman, Sanliurfa, Diyarbakir, Adana, and Kahramanmaras.

The impact of the earthquake was also felt in neighboring countries, with strong tremors reported in Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, and Cyprus.
