Spokesperson for Azerbaijani MFA responds to Armenian Foreign Ministry

"We renew the memory of the Armenian Foreign Ministry: Armenia is a country, which has been occupying part of Azerbaijan's territory for nearly 30 years and committed large-scale illegal activities in these territories, including urbicide, culturicide, and ecocide," said Leyla Abdullayeva, head of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, APA reports.

"Armenian has wiped out 9 Azerbaijani cities and hundreds of villages. Historical, cultural, and religious monuments in these areas have been ruined and looted.

For decades, Armenia has prevented the visit of a UNESCO mission to hide its intentional destruction committed in the liberated territories. This fact is clearly reflected in the activity report published by UNESCO in 2005.

Besides, Armenia has completely destroyed the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan on its territory.

Over the past 30 years, Armenia has violated international law, including norms of humanitarian law, over the past 30 years; The 1949 Geneva Convention, as well as the 1954 and 1970 UNESCO Conventions, were roughly violated.

Results of Armenia's vandalism mentioned above have been documented and covered by the international media and independent experts.

Against the background of all this, it seems that the Armenian MFA aims to cover their illegal acts by making false extractions from the statement of the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan.

But the official body of the neighboring country forgets that, unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan does not discriminate against its historical-cultural heritage on religious and ethnic grounds. Azerbaijan is an example of tolerance and cultural diversity in the world.

We recommend the Armenian MFA not to put itself into the deeper and more desperate situation with lies, but recommend to show good intentions and acts by honesty," said MFA Official.
