Southern Azerbaijani figures announce establishment of Council of National Statehood

A group of public and political figures from Southern Azerbaijan have announced the creation of the "Council of National Statehood of South Azerbaijan" with the aim of recreating the National Government of Azerbaijan, declared by Azerbaijanis living in Iran in 1945-1946. The new structure will hold its inaugural online meeting on April 30, according to a statement from the initiative group, with Cenghis Goyturk serving as coordinator.

Other members of the initiative group include Saleh Ildyrim, head of the Independence Party of South Azerbaijan, Ahmed Obaly, founder of the satellite TV channel "Gunaz", Ajdar Tagizade, head of the Democratic Turkic Party of South Azerbaijan, and Sadig Isabeyli, member of the board of the National Liberation Front of South Azerbaijan. The headquarters of the organization will be located in Finland.

The organization aims to establish an independent state of South Azerbaijan.
