Russian Foreign Minister lauds Uzbekistan, Russia, Kazakhstan gas union as beneficial

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov praised the gas union formed between Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kazakhstan, saying that it benefits all three countries. Speaking at a briefing in Samarkand, Lavrov stated that the project will strengthen energy security and that there will be advantages for both the gas suppliers and those interested in the issue.

"The three countries, including at the level of presidents, have actively advanced in the discussion of this large-scale project... When the parties agree on the terms of transit and on the terms of the price, and if everyone is satisfied with everything, everyone wins," he said.

However, Lavrov also emphasized that the issue of the gas union was not discussed during the meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council, as it has no direct relation to the Commonwealth.
