Putin: The fight is not on Armenian territory

Russian President Vladimir Putin called the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh a tragedy and expressed Russia's deep concern.

He said this in an interview with "Rossiya" 24 TV channel.

Putin expressed his hope that the conflict would end soon.

"If the conflict is not completely over... and it seems that is not going to happen any time soon, but we are still calling for it to end. I would like to repeat, we are calling for ceasefire, this needs to be done as soon as possible".

The Russian President added that the Armenian leadership has no questions for Russia about the implementation of allied obligations:

"Armenia is a member of the CSTO and we have certain obligations under this agreement. Unfortunately, the fights still continue. But the fight is not on Armenian territory. As for our obligations, we have fulfilled, are fulfilling and will fulfill them".
