President Aliyev Hopes for Discussions on Regional Cooperation and Security during French Minister's Visit

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his hope that French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna's regional trip will include discussions on regional cooperation and security. Speaking on the topic, the President emphasized Azerbaijan's efforts to pursue peace with Armenia following the 44-day Patriotic War.

According to President Aliyev, Azerbaijan had proposed a peace treaty with Armenia immediately after the end of the conflict, based on mutual recognition of each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Azerbaijan had presented five principles to Yerevan with this aim in mind.

However, President Aliyev also noted that Armenia has failed to fulfill its obligations under the November 10, 2020 trilateral Statement and the end of the Patriotic War. This statement was signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia and marked the end of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The President's comments reflect Azerbaijan's ongoing concerns over Armenia's lack of compliance with the peace agreement and its commitment to regional stability. The visit of the French Foreign Minister to the region presents an opportunity to discuss these issues and explore possibilities for regional cooperation and security.
