Over 7,600 Russians apply to 'I want to live' project to surrender

The "I Want to Live" project has received more than 7,600 applications from Russians who want to surrender, said Nataliia Kostenko, deputy permanent representative of Ukraine to international organizations in Vienna.

In January, 5.6 million users visited the website of the "I Want to Live" project, 4.7 million of whom are from Russia.

"Before Russian propaganda distorts the facts, I want to assure you that the detention of prisoners of war who voluntarily surrendered within the framework of the project is carried out under the provisions of the Geneva Convention. If they want, they can return to their homeland as a result of the exchange or ask for asylum," Kostenko said.
