Korotchenko: "Sanctions against Russia are not temporary, they will remain in force for at least 20-30 years"

"Sanctions against Russia are not temporary. These sanctions will remain in force for at least 20-30 years," said Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the Russian magazine "Nasionalnaya Oborona", a well-known military expert in a speech at a round table on "Russia in the context of the geopolitical transformation of Eurasia" at the Institute of Actual International Problems of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, APA's Moscow correspondent reports.
The Russian expert, who delivered a speech at a roundtable on the prospects of cooperation in the political, economic, scientific, cultural, and religious spheres of Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran, and other countries in the current geopolitical situation, stressed that sanctions against the country are temporary. The majority of our politicians and political elite think that sanctions will be lifted after some time. I reckon that a completely different process has started now. Therefore, Russia must think of other political configurations. It is clear that we will no longer be able to find common ground with the West and the Anglo-Saxon civilization in general. Therefore, Russia should tend to the East, which is a very difficult, ambiguous political process. In this sense, Russian-Turkish cooperation is of great importance. As known, we have strategic partners in Asia, such as India and China. Nevertheless, Turkey is a more important and special partner for Russia. Since Turkey is a NATO country with the second strongest army in the North Atlantic Alliance after the United States.
The Russian military expert stressed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the brightest political figure in the world political arena today: “He has become the brightest politician in the world today due to his charisma and approach to the future of the Turkic world. Erdogan is a strong political player and has close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
