ICRC Informed of Detained Azerbaijani Servicemen in Armenia

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has been made aware of the detention of two Azerbaijani servicemen in Armenia, according to Ilaha Huseynova, head of the public relations department of the ICRC Baku office. The ICRC is in contact with the families and relevant structures, and aims to visit the detainees as soon as possible.
During these visits, the ICRC assesses the treatment of detainees and the conditions of their detention, and creates conditions for contact with their families. The observations and recommendations following the visits are only made to the detaining party, according to ICRC procedures.
On April 10, two soldiers of the Azerbaijani armed forces disappeared in the Shahbuz region of Nakhchivan, with the Ministry of Defense reporting that they got lost in adverse weather conditions. The next day, Armenian media reported the detention of one of them, Agshin Babirov, in the village of Bnunis, Syunik region.
On April 13, Armenian media shared footage of another detainee, Huseyn Akhundov, who appeared to have signs of violence. He was detained near the town of Kafan.
