The protests against the pension reform in France turned violent, leading to the arrest of 201 individuals, according to Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin. Riots broke out in several cities across the country, with approximately 13,000 police officers and gendarmes deployed on Tuesday. Darmanin reported that 175 officers were injured during the unrest.

The protests resulted in property damage and riots not only in Paris, but also in Nantes, Rennes, Lille, Bordeaux, Calais, Dijon, Toulouse, Strasbourg, and Caen, as per media reports. In some areas, police resorted to using water cannons and tear gas to control the situation.

The demonstrations were in opposition to the government's proposed changes to the pension system. Despite previous efforts to reform the system, the government's latest proposal has faced resistance from various groups, including trade unions, students, and the yellow vest movement.

The French authorities have condemned the violence and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. The unrest has sparked concerns about the ongoing protests and the potential for further escalation.
