Country's population exceeds 10 million with declining marriage rates

As of March 1, 2023, the population of the country has reached 10,135,373 people, according to the State Statistics Committee. The urban population accounts for 54.6% of the total, while the remaining 45.4% is rural. The gender ratio stands at 49.8% male and 50.2% female, with an average of 1010 women for every 1000 men.

In the first two months of this year, 19,158 newborns were registered by the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice. Among those born, 53.2% were boys, while 46.8% were girls. Additionally, 610 of those born were twins, and 45 were triplets.

The report also reveals that in the same period, the number of marriages per 1,000 people declined from 5.9 to 4.6 as 7541 marriages were registered by the district (city) registration departments of the Ministry of Justice. However, the number of divorces increased from 1.5 to 1.8 per 1,000 people, as 3014 divorces were registered during January-February this year.
