A Tesla owner in California has filed a prospective class action lawsuit against the electric carmaker, accusing it of violating the privacy of its customers. The lawsuit, filed by San Francisco resident Henry Yeh in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, comes after a Reuters report revealed that groups of Tesla employees privately shared highly invasive videos and images recorded by customers’ car cameras between 2019 and 2022 via an internal messaging system.

The lawsuit alleges that Tesla employees were able to access the images and videos for their "tasteless and tortious entertainment" and "the humiliation of those surreptitiously recorded." It also states that Tesla's conduct is "particularly egregious" and "highly offensive."

The lawsuit seeks to represent a class of Tesla customers whose privacy was allegedly violated in this way. The allegations against Tesla are serious and, if proven, could have significant implications for the company's reputation and future business. Tesla has yet to respond to the lawsuit.
