Two Azerbaijani soldiers, Agshin Babirov and Huseyn Akhundov, were arrested on April 17 by a Yerevan court for crossing the Armenian border from Nakhchivan on April 10. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has initiated a criminal case against them on charges of illegal border crossing, smuggling, and illegal trafficking of weapons and ammunition.

The incident began when the first soldier arrived late in the evening of April 10 at the village of Bnunis in the Syunik region and asked for help from local residents. The second soldier was later detained on April 13 near the town of Kafan. It was reported that he was beaten and filmed while being bullied on video, which was then posted on the internet.
