Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry criticizes French Ministry's statement on Armenia

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has issued a commentary on the statement made by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs on April 12 in support of Armenia. The statement by the French Ministry was regarding the provocation by the Armenian side against Azerbaijani positions in the Lachin region on April 11.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry claims that the French Ministry's statement does not reflect the reality of the situation and is an example of bias against their country. They state that France did not judge Armenia's aggression and occupation policy during their mediation in the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict for almost 25 years. The Ministry further alleges that France did not try to resolve the conflict and instead carried out a smear campaign against Azerbaijan after they ended the occupation and resolved the conflict on their own.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has called on France to refrain from making such statements that incite Armenia to further provocations and support revanchist forces. They also criticize the French Ministry's statement for not calling on Armenia to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and not demanding that Armenia withdraw their armed forces from the territories of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Trilateral statement and the outcome of the Prague meeting attended by the French President.
