Azerbaijan and Israel discuss trade relations and sign multiple bilateral agreements

On April 19, the Azerbaijani-Israeli Intergovernmental Commission held a meeting in Baku to discuss investments, innovations, ecology, information, water, energy, agriculture, food industry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnologies, food security, cybersecurity, tourism, and small and medium-sized business cooperation. The countries signed a number of bilateral documents following the meeting.

Minister Mikayil Jabbarov of Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy highlighted the dynamic development of Azerbaijani-Israeli relations, noting that the share of non-oil products in the trade turnover between the two countries is growing. He also invited Israeli companies to use the opportunities of the Alat Free Economic Zone, the Baku Commercial Sea Port, and implement joint projects.

Bilateral documents signed included a joint declaration between the Innovation and Digital Development Agency of Azerbaijan and the National Institute of Technological Innovation of Israel; a cooperation agreement between SOCAR and the Israeli company Union Energy; and between "Azersu" and the National Water Company of Israel - "Mekorot". The Government of Azerbaijan and the Government of Israel also signed a program of cooperation in the field of education for 2023-2026.

The Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan stated that there is untapped potential for exporting non-oil products from Azerbaijan to Israel, and diversifying trade relations between the two countries is necessary.
