Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of attempting to transport weapons to illegal armed detachments
21 April 2023
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has accused Armenia of attempting to transport manpower, ammunition, mines, and other military equipment to illegal armed detachments in Azerbaijan. This comes after Azerbaijan Army Units took control of the dirt roads north of the Lachin road.
On the morning of April 21, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense observed the movement of military vehicles carrying supplies to combat positions of illegal Armenian armed detachments, accompanied by Russian peacekeeping forces, using technical surveillance means.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has notified that the transportation of manpower, weapons, ammunition, and mines by Armenia to the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan, and the attempts to set new passage routes in this regard, are considered a gross violation of the provisions of the Trilateral Statement. These actions create a basis for increasing tension in the region and new Armenian provocations.
The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan has released video material to support its claims. It remains to be seen how Armenia will respond to these accusations.
