Armenian PM discusses Karabakh negotiations with US Senior Adviser

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan held discussions with Senior Adviser on negotiations in the Caucasus Luis Bono on April 20 to explore the mechanism of negotiations between Baku and Karabakh, according to a statement from the Armenian government's press service. Pashinyan emphasized the significance of the US administration's efforts in ensuring stability and security in the region and presented the Armenian side's approaches to resolve the existing key problems. He also condemned the aggressive policy and bellicose rhetoric against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and the territorial integrity of Armenia.

The discussions took place against the backdrop of the humanitarian crisis caused by the blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, as well as the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and the unblocking of regional transport infrastructures.

Earlier this week, Armenian authorities discussed these issues with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Erica Olson, who then visited Baku for talks with President Ilham Aliyev. Bono has been in Yerevan for three days after visiting Baku earlier this week.

It appears that American mediators are taking the initiative to coordinate the positions of Baku and Yerevan in concluding a peace treaty.
